Top 10 Directory Submit your site

Add your new site with the most important directories is an essential task if you want to build traffic and positioning of the page. While the list is not exhaustive, will get you on track in your directory listings.

Some points to keep in mind when you add your site to these directories:

• Directories are not search engines. Directories are edited and maintained by humans, but search engines are programs that troll the web looking for pages. Your site could be recommended in a directory from one of the editors of the site, or a very enthusiastic fan of your site, but most likely it will occur if you want to make a list of directories.

• Ensure that the directory is indexed in major search engines. A quick search on Google, Yahoo and MSN will do.

• Ensure that the directory is not banned by Google. Probably will not get flagged by Google if you are listed here, but the risk is too great - there are hundreds of other sites for your link.

• Page Rank is not everything. Do not jump sites just because they have a low page rank. While PageRank is extremely useful, changes over time. A directory with a PR of 3 of this month could go to the next 6 months. Also, note the Page Rank of the specific page of the directory of your site will be listed. Just as they say, is Page Rank for your pages, not sites. A directory may have a PR of 7, but the page your link appears may be a lowly 1.

• Directories are the traffic during the night. Look around, the guidelines for submission and to see how long it will take to the editors review your site. Free sites can take up to four months to get approved.

• Go after the oldest directory first. Google enhances the age of a site, and you should to.

• Review the guidelines of the directory and do not abuse it. Do not submit your site every week. Do not add a site foreign to a niche directories. Do not try to fool the editors to add your site to more than one category if it goes against the guidelines.
