Finding a good web host?

Usually, when someone contacts me in line, one of the most common questions that I do is this: "How do I find a good web host" or "Which web host do you use?"

This is one of those essential things you need to earn that income online. You will need a website and you will need a web host, a place where to put this web site.

Certainly there are many marketers who are working without a site, but most have at least one site, which serves as their calling card online, where people can find on the web. Of course, you can always use social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter ... but that is how to use your office to Starbucks!

Instead, a well designed website is just more professional and business like. It also means that you're serious about your online business.

Choosing a good web host is not easy. I have had many different web hosts over the years. Most of them were very good and served their purpose, but I had some bad experiences, that's too long term webmaster or marketer does not have? Something always goes wrong at the end, especially if you have a lot of web sites and many different hosts.

Sometimes having a web host can be downright scary. Several years ago, the web host that I had my main site was sold and then went bankrupt. One day your site is working fine and the day after the web host is completely gone. Shut down. Your site and all files vanished completely. Vanished. The landlord can not be reached. Total black-out!

Fortunately, I had my site up on different systems and from that experience I always back up my sites on multiple computers and go beyond copying DVDs should those computers crash. If you have a website, I always suggest that you backup your site files and make it redundant. The worst can happen to you.

The overall quality and good support 24/7 should be your first goal in choosing a good web host. You want a site that is fast, easy to use, rarely down and has good support which can be reached at any time, in case something goes wrong.

You need to check exactly what features your web host provides and at what price:

- How much storage space?
- Maximum daily traffic, or transfer?
- Email system? How many accounts ...
- What kind of Linux or Windows server?
- Like many other websites will be sharing your IP address?
- Do you need SSL or a secure site?
- There are sites / backup files? How often?
- What are the hours of support?
- And of course the price?

But do not ever try to get the lowest price hosting, keep in mind, you always get what you pay for. A low cost web host will not save you money if it is a poor service and your site is always going down. So do not always choose the cheapest web host.

Match your hosting service with the type of site you will be running, or a simple HTML site will make simple requests on hosting service. Thus, a shared hosting service can be very suitable to meet your hosting needs. For the sake of SEO, you should always check the location of your site, I found what country your site is hosted, plays a role in your rankings, especially Google.

However, if you have a site that is very interactive with forums, discussion groups, get large bursts of traffic or you are doing a lot of server-side scripts and programs, so you may need a more reliable hosting service to meet the your needs.

In this case, you may need a dedicated server to handle just your site. Many web hosts offer this service and it's worth looking into if you have a site with extreme amounts of traffic or if you're running forums, affiliate programs, e-mail services ... from your own site. Most of my personal sites are very simple and have them in many different web hosts. Largely because of my experiences, I do not want to have all my sites on a host ... the old argument "does not put all your eggs in one basket".

At the moment I am quite happy with all my web host ... Many of my sites are on GoDaddy and I find them OK for simple sites, like mine. I also find it convenient, because they are also a log domain so you can easily use to buy my domains. Although many experts suggest you should always keep your domain registration separate from your hosting service, because if your host should suddenly disappear, it's just a simple matter of moving the site to a different host. If the host controls the domain, this can be a big problem. Always remain in control of your domain in your hands, but you probably already knew.

Another web host I use is that Bluehost is very good, I can not remember the last time my site was down. They are very popular with about a million sites and my only concern is that they can become too popular and their services will be spread too thin. However, I had very few problems with them and you can always get their support.

I also have a site with Ken Evoy SBI (Site Build It), but one that I created primarily to gain access to enormous resources associated with SBI. And 'slightly more expensive than some of those listed above, but SBI is a comprehensive online marketing in my opinion can not be equaled anywhere. Well, maybe the Warriors team could give them a run for their money, but it is the community of webmasters related with SBI makes it special. They are always ready and willing to help, no matter if you're a complete beginner or a seasoned pro. Several years ago, I took a very close first-hand look at the hosting service provided by SBI. You can find my opinions / reviews of SBI located in the box below income.

There are countless web host you can choose when choosing a web host. But do your homework, look around at various forums and see how everyone is scoring the hosts that are using the web. First-hand experiences are the best judge of whether a web host is good and reliable.

Although moving a website from one host to another can be a real pain, especially if you have a site on a large scale, but if you are not completely satisfied with a web host and are having serious problems - just change your hosting. Just make sure you're not going from bad to worse.

Yet, finding a good quality web host is an important task, no matter how you look.

Perhaps, ultimately, nothing is better to check with your webmaster friends and colleagues you trust. Ask them which houses they are using and if you are satisfied with it. Nothing beats first-hand experience when it comes to choosing a web host. Just make sure you're comparing oranges to oranges, ie: make sure you have similar site requirements as your webmaster friends. If you have both sites of similar type, then find a good quality web host can be as easy as making a friendly chat over a cup of coffee .......
